Well, it's great for light at the end of the day ... but horrible for getting up. I have such a hard time getting up in the morning when it's dark out - right before we had to change the clocks, it was light when I had to get up for work, and I was feeling more energetic as I got ready and on my trip in to the college. That all ended as soon as we turned the clocks ahead for daylight savings time ... it's now dark again in the mornings when my alarm clock goes off - and I am having a really hard time getting out of bed.
Who thought this was a good idea, anyway? Why don't we just allow our minds and bodies to adjust naturally to the longer days of spring and summer and the shorter days of fall and winter without artificially trying to change things? I don't know who it really helps - I know it doesn't help me.
I know whose idea it was, originally, a couple of hundred years or so ago... do you?

Nathan's requesting Ed Ames and Andy Williams for your music!
ReplyDeleteJoie says: Benjamin Franklin!
ReplyDeleteWas I supposed to know that you had a blog?!
ReplyDeleteWell, Terri, I totally disagree THIS WEEK...cuz I do not have to get up for work (big grin)til Friday... but I do have to say I LOVE DST because I love the long evening...
ReplyDeleteNot being a morning person normally this makes it great for me...
Nathan - I'll see what I can do about finding Ed Ames and Andy Williams ...
ReplyDeleteJoie is right - Ben Franklin.
Also, Joie, I started it out because I was trying to help with some of the layout issues with the playlist and stuff... it wasn't going to be anything, but since I've updated it a few times, I figured I'd share it with everybody.
And, Mommy, phhhbbbbtttt!!! (online raspberry to you! hehe!)
Only one Ed Ames song - and it's not a great recording, but it IS one of my favorites: "My Cup Runneth Over"... And a few Andy Williams tunes. Ed Ames and the Ames Brothers stuff is very, very hard to find online - been looking for mp3's to buy for a couple of years now. Oh, well - I did my best!
